Ásgeir Berg (Matthíasson)

My name

My full name is Ásgeir Berg Matthíasson, but I publish in English as Ásgeir Berg. Like most Icelanders, I do not have a surname — "Matthíasson" is a patronym — and for various reasons I prefer not to use my full name in English. One reason is that Icelanders are never addressed by their patronym alone, and I find it jarring when this happens in English-speaking contexts.

In Icelandic, I publish under my full name.
